GOOD FIELDS BAY OF PLENTY ACCEPTANCES TO-MORROW'S EVENTS AT TAURANGA Good fields are carded for the first clay of tlic Bay of Plenty Racing Club's Autumn Meeting to be held at Tauranga to-morrow. Sixteen remain in the Cup with Ivena occupying pride of place with 8.12. GoiVd Vaals is likely to be strongly fancied in this race. The following are details of the fields with a review of the prospects-:-— 11.45: TRIAL PLATE HANDICAP, Sweepstakes of £2 each, with £100 added; 5% fur. Wlienua 8.6; Bronze Spear 5.5: Flying Eagle, Nyola, Lord Acc 8.2; Commemoration 8.1; Radiant Bay. Vaalsmac, Gael, -Diversity, Spats, Master Ace, Lady Tliea, Ace'ful, Reriwai, Golden Tom, Red Falcon, African, Misora 8.0. Like!j' horses include Whenua Flying Eagle Master Ace 12.30: JACK TANNER MEMORIAL HANDICAP Of £150; two year olds; 5*4 fur. Cillas 9.5; Surpai 7.8; Paymaster 7.0; Radiant Vaals, Dorset, Tea Blossom 7.5; Silveyor, Gay WidoAV, Aberdovcy, Deanna Durbin 7.0. Cillas did not race as well as expected at Pukekohe and he will again find it difficult to concede so much weight to those below him. Surpai is a possibility but Paymaster appeals more. Radiant Vaals, Silvcyor and Aberdovcy are likely and most support may be accorded Paymaster Surpai Silveyor 1.15: GATE PA HURDLES Of £250; 1y 2 miles General Ruse 10.12; King Musk 9.9; Haile Boy 9.7; Gaseyne, Enjoyment, Chikara 9.5; Bells of Bow, Midland, Holme Fell, Floodlight, Mai de Mer 9.0. General Ruse should be prominent but at the weights may be held by the improving King Musk. Haile Hoy, trained on the course, has prob ably benefited by recent racing and will be running on at the linish. Gaseyne has nothing to recommend him but is capable of surprising. Enjoyment will be supported on Pukekohe showing. Chikara does not seem likely and the same applies to Bells of Bow. In the latter's case the race may be only a work-out for steeplechasing. Midland has every show and Floodlight may shortly come into his own. Much has been heard of this horse and he is expected to perform well. Mai de Mer lias won over sticks but does not appeal. The favourites may be King Musk General Ruse Enjoyment

2.0: TAURANGA CUP Of £500; 1% miles Kena 8.12; Raana 8.9; Gamos 8,8; Te Hai 8.(5; Philcourt 8.1; Erlick 8.0; Pirate King 7.12; Gold Vaals 7.10; Rarotonga 7.9; Pocket Venus. The Dozer, Grand City 7.8; High Delight 7.5; Very Glad 7.3; Raepata Raceline 7.0.

Kena has Rotorua form to recommend him but may be troubled by .sonic of the lighter weights. Rann;s is likely and investors will hot leave Games out of their calculations. Te Hai, Philcourt and Erliek should be prominent, with Philcourt the best supported. Pirate King is not to be despised at the distance aud is reported U> be very lit. Gold Vnals sonltl be first past the post, llarof.onga led for about nine furlongs in the Herrics Memorial at Te Aroha and if he repea\s that dis P*ay may prove difficult to hea;"

on the Tauranga course. Pocket Venus, The Dozer and Raepata appeal most of the others, with preference lor the latter, although The Dozer ran well at Rotorua. Likely fancies includc

Gold Vaals Philcourt Rarotonga

2.45: ALF BROWN MEMORIAL HANDICAP Of £150; 6 fur .Spear J" or d 8.12; Merry Vaals 8.8; Biddy Girl 8.5; Estro 8.4; Star Vaal 8.0; Ngawiri 7.11; Mingle Gold Petal, Gazel'ul 7.7. Spearford is a possibility and the betting public will not forget Merry Vaals. The others will have to be taken on trust, but Estro and Gazeful are likely. Investors may prefer

Estro Spearford Gazeful

3.30: GREERTON HIGH-WEIGHT HACK HANDICAP Of £150; 1 mile Mio Fratollo 9.5; Fox toon 9.4; Silver Cloud 9.0; Dutch Ace 8.8; Mendelssohn 8.4; Norse Lady 8.3; Advance Acre, Bronze Spear 8.0. This seems to resolve • itself into a three-horse affair with those in the limelight being Silver Cloud Foxtoon Norse Lady 4.15: FLYING HANDICAP Of £250; 6 fur Black Thread 9.1; Foxsen 8.0; Corato 8.0; Lornacre 7.13; Foxmond 7.7; Penzance 7.7; Silver Eagle 7.5; Very (Had 7.3; Te Kawiti 7.2; Sir Robin 7.1; Day Wind. Njitaro, Miss Te Koura 7.0. This race will be difficult for backers. Black Thread Avill find it hard and a better prospect is Foxsen. This filly, however, will not have it all her own way should Foxmond decide to leave the barrier with the field instead of hopping off two minutes after the tapes have lifted. Corato and Lornacre are possibilities but Penzance is improving and her third at Pukekohe was promising. Silver Eagle does not appeal and the same applies to Very Glad. Te Kawiti should be one of the leaders past the judge but a better prospect may prove to be Sir Robin. This black gelding showed at Rotorua that he possesses speed and with his light weight may trouble the field. Day Wind appears to have absolutely no chance in this class but the same cannot be said ol Noitaro and Miss Te Koura. The latter lias won on this course and may prove difficult to head should she clear away to] the lead. Popular choice may he iorj i Sir Robin Foxsen Foxmond 5.0: PRESIDENT'S HACK HDCP. Of £150; 7 fur Greek Queen 9.8; Sir Robin 9.5; Clipper 9.1; Kenneth Robert 8.11; Susan 8.'11; Little Ruse 8.3; Dutch Ace 8.1; Acreman 8.0; Orally, N3 r ola, Mercury Bay 7.7. Greek Queen may be troubled by her weight over the distance and Sir Robin has a previous engagement. Clipper Avon convincingly at Pukekohe and looks right here. Kenneth Robert has disappointed in his latest races but knows the course and should show up. Aeroman and Mercury Bay appeal and most support may be accordcd Clipper Acreman Mercury Bay SKINNY LIMBS round out to natural attractiveness when you take Yim Tablets. Yim Tablets, made from Yeast, Iron and Malt, give you needed extra weight, vim, vigour, vitality. F. G. Maeklow and other Chemists sell Yim Tablets at 4/fl )ott!e.

THE FRANKLIN MEETING JACK TAR WINS THE CUP In fine weather, with an excellent racing track, and an enthusiastic assemblage of turf patrons, the Franklin Racing Club opened its j meeting at Pukekohe on Saturday. J The programme opened with the Waiuku Hack Handicap, for which < Wildore, Beeswing, and Vitement .were made favourites and finished in the order named. Wildore ran right up to his Te Arolia form, and ; defeated Beeswing who would have j bean all the better for a gallop, by half a length. Orally was the leader into the straight but then weakened and finished fourth. A field of twelve lined out for the Puni Hurdles, and well up in ; the estimation of backers were Glen Abb, Bachelor King and Celtic Lad. Making his second appearance as a hurdler Bachelor King took up the running five furlongs from home, and 'was never headed. The Development gelding Enjoyment, filled second place and Glen Abb finished third. Chang, who has been off the scene for a considerable time, occupied fourth place, and may be running even more prominently at Easter. With 23. starters in the Bombay Handicap investors had a wide scope for selection, and high in their choice were Abbey King, Hackenschmidt, Whenua, Gold Spot and British Talent. Kingcraft was first to show out, and across the top was followed by Abbey King, British Talent, Hackcnschmidt, Who nun, Elsie, Rose Vaals and Sarduc. Abbey King showed the way into the straight, and half way down Hackcnschmidt came Avith a dash to score by a length from Abbey King, Avith Kingcraft third. The last named registered his best performance to date. He is a half brother to King Lu and Gladynev, and in due course may make a high rank hurdler. The attention of patrons Avas then attracted to the Franklin Cup candi dates, sixteen in number. As in the case of the Rotorua Cup the much boomed Cornish Avas mane first choice, and there Avas liA r ely backing for Mintlaw, Philcourt, Racecamp and Lady Montana. Jack Tar the eighth in order fancy, Avas looking better than at recent meetings; Mintlaw bore a Avell trained appearance, and Our Jean carried plenty of muscle and a bright coat. In a Avell fought cut finish the honours went to Jack Tar (who evidently had been apprised of the gallant deeds of the Achilles' New Zealanders) Avith the consistent Mintlaw and Lady Montana second and third respectively. Sixth place Avas filled by Cornish, on which a lot of money went west. The Dynes Fulton Memorial brought outs a good field of hacks. Although carrying 9.7 White "Rajah Avas the leading selection, Avith Clipper and Manaroo loyally supported. A hard ridden finish resulted in a short head victory for Clipper, from White Rajah, Avho by virtue of his Te Arolia win, Avas called upon to concede the Avinner 191bs. GREAT NORTHERN OAKS Among those to contest the Great Northern Oaks are Greek Queen, Our Jean, Kilcash, Fotxsen and Foxmond. G.N. ST. LEGER Beau Repaire, whose late AvithdraAval from the Herries Memorial Cup will be long remembered by many disappointed punters, is listed in the Great Northern St-Leger Stakes, one mile and three quart- ■ ers, in Avliich he may meet Beau Vite, who in the meantime may be said to have the best staying cred--1 entials.
