PARCELS TO SOLDIERS

TOBACCO AND CIGARETTES BANNED ONLY PENALISING RECIPIENTS The postmaster, Mr L. G. Wood, notifies that, the public are urged not to include cigarettes or tobacco in any form in parcels sent to members of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force in Egypt. The PostmasterGeneral regrets need for placing any restriction on contents of parcels for soldiers but restriction is necessary in the interests of the soldiers themselves as according to advice just from General Freyberg in Egypt, soldiers are required tt> pay half rates of duty on cigarettes and tobacco even Avhen included in post parcels.

Post Office Hours at Easter. The Postmaster, Mr L. G. I advises that the Post Office Avill be closed in all branches on Friday, March 22nd, and on Monday, March 25th. On the latter date all mails usually despatched during the day will close at 7 a.m. Street receiving boxes Avill be cleared prior to tfhat hour.
