AMATEUR ATHLETICS

Readers will note with pleasure the success of the local athletic club, an organisation which is worthy of the town's fullest support, yet one which languishes for lack of interest and patronage. The Whakatane club is now ahead in competitional points and its representatives will in the near future be visiting Te Puke and Tauranga- With them will go the best wishes of the town. The club continues to hold its bright .little sports meetings on Wednesday evenings, and the general public Is reminded that onlookers lend the competitors encouragement, and assist vefy materially in. establishing the club.
