FORTHCOMING CENTENNIAL

With the approach of Whakatane's big Centennial effort on March 16th, it is interesting to note the wide variety of arrangements which the committee are undertaking. With a view to creating the correct old world atmosphere of the early Victorian era,, inquires are being made in this district and beyond for the old types of dresses worn by the ladies of the time- It is also hoped that owners of old style horsedrawn vehicles will plaoe these at the committee's disposal and thus'assist towards the interest of the proceedings. If all the details now in hand are successfully completed, the people of this district should witness a spectacle which for colour and interest would be hard to surpass.
