Mrs J. Breigan, of Hauparapara, is staying with Mrs G. Kent v Hillcrest. Mr Stanley 'Chrisp has returned to Whakatane after spending a hoi 5 day at Gisborne. Miss Pat Cottrell, of Stewart Street, is progressing favourably after an operation for appendicitis. Mr A. C. Pawson, who has been managing the Regent and Grand Theatres in the absence on holiday of Mr Chrisp, left last evening for Opotiki. Mr and Mrs Chrisp, of Merriti Street, have returned from an enjoyable tour of the East Coast and the Southern part of the North Island. Opportunity was taken to visit the Centennial Exhibition while in Wellington. ENGAGEMENT Cutler —Patterson.! —The engagement is announced betwen Hubert Guy, youngest son of Mr and Mrs F. B. Cutler, of Whakatane,, and Jean Gilmore, second daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Patterson, Whakatane.
