CENTENNIAL CHOIR

FORTHCOMING COMPETITIONS

SUGGESTION FOR WHAKATANE

At a meeting of those interested in the suggestion to enter a choir from Whakatane in the Centennial competitions it was decided to go further, and to make every effort to enlist the interests of all likely mem bers. To this end a further meeting will be held in the Presbyterian Hall this evening.

The actual programme is th.it the district competitions will be held in Auckland, and tlie other three main centres. The finalist.? will com pete in the major competitions to be held at Wellington, when the placings will lie made. The fir'st prize is £125, second £50 and third £25.

In urging the support for Whakatane's active participation citizens should be reminded that they will be forwarding the ideal of the centennial and though a small individual expenditure may be necessary for travelling expenses, the experience and training will be easily worth while.
