OHOPE AFFAIRS

Sir, —I take it that the more Mr Mahy gets taught to swim the more he will be pleased. To get the most out of his money he should establish hiis .swimming pool at the Borough School. The children of the district (including those of Ohope) are all there. And. the teachers are there to supervise the teaching. The high pressure water of the Borough Avoukl be just the thing to hose and I fill the pool and the children would keep it clean. The whole business would be easy and successful; at the Borough School, but not at OJiope. Why should Ohope be with a fresh water swimming pool? Nobody has ever been drowned at Ohope As a rule it is swimmers that venture toe far that get drowned. Yours etc., - "PARENT."!

Sir, —The swimming pool at Ohope has come as a bombshell. I think I can see what is going to happen.. The swimming pool will l>e established: the newly born will be abandoned by its parent: the County Council will pick up the foundling: the rates of the ratepayers will be dipped into to rmrse and maintain the baby for nil time. I hope the County Council will haw foresight enough to save us from such a liability. There are enough lame ducks about Ohope already. Why take on another one? Yours etc., RATEPAYER.
