GARDENS BENEFIT
MORE RAIN
UNSETTLED PERIOD
Unlike Inst year, when a particularly dry spell affected pasture lands and gardens for close on three months, January and the first week of this month has seen more than the average rainfall. The gardens in Whakatanc hear a refreshed appearance and lawns are of the Spring green and growing well. Most of the rain that has fallen since Christmas has been over the last four week-ends, on two of which extremely heavy falls were registered. Though most of the harvesting in the district has been completed the unsettled weather has caused some inconvenience to farmers and sporting bodies, too, have been affected, many week-end fixtures having been cancelled in the last five weeks,
