WAIMANA NOTES
ANNUAL SETTLERS' PICNIC (Beacon Correspondent) The annual settlers' picnic organised by the Waimana Women's Institute was held last■ Wednesday, in a paddock on Mr E. P. Woolfields farm. There was *a good attendance of settlers and their families. The entertainment for the day was races, games and swimming. Everyone enjoyed a dainty luncheon, afternoon tea, sweets, ice cream and fruit. All tiny tots received a gift. The picnic committee extend a hearty vote of thanks to Mr and Mrs WooHield and all who helped in any way to make the function the success it was. Y.F.C. Dance. The Waimana Young Farmers' Club held a successful dance in the Waimana hall last Wednesday evening. Although the weather was most unkind, and heavy rain falling, there was quite a good attendance of danc ers. The dance music was played by Mrs M. King; Miss M. Wardla.w kindly obliged with an extra. -
Mr R. Morton was in charge of fjiic door, and Mr J. Perfect capably acted as M. C. A lucky spot waltz was won by Mrs Mannion and Mr Dick Boynton. A dainty savoury supper was served by the members of the Y.F.C., and dancing continued until a late hour. Among those present were: Mis T. W. "Wardlaw, 3lrs F. Bell, Mrs C. Bell, Mrs Bert Hughes, Mrs Mannion Mrs Ducker,. Mrs I. Savage. Misses* M. Wool field, B. Bell, M. Ward law, H. Boynton, A. Ruff, S. Addison, Ettie Addison. A. Burnett, Eileen' Addison, R. Macdonald, R. Mughos.
