LARGE YARDING OPOTIKI PIG SALE Messrs Dalgety and Go. Ltd. report having held their visual fortnightly pig sale at Opotiki, when a heavy yarding of all classes of pigs came forward, baconers again predominating. There was a large and representative attendance of buyers, with the usual bench of exporters operating. Baconers sold under keen competition at fully late rates, whilst porkers and buttermilk pigs sold under keen competition at slightly lower values. Weaners and slips also sokl at reduced rates. The principal sales were: Twentyseven heavy baconers, averaging £315s 6il, on account of Pile Bros; 25 light baconers, averaging £3 ss, on account of J. Armstrong; 5 baconers at £3 15s, 2 choppers at £4 3s on account of R. J. Brown. Realisations: Prime heavy baconers £3 l is to £3 16s; medium baconers £3 os to £3 12s Gd; light baconers £3; to S3 ss; porkers £2 5s to £2 15s; buttermilk pigs £2 10s to £3 2s Gd; stores £2 to j£2 12s Gd; slips 30s to 355; medium sorts £1 to 255; weaners. good 18s to 22s Gd; weaners, medium 15s to 17s 6d; weaners, small 10s to 12s; choppers, heavy £3 15s to £4 2s; choppers, medium weight £3 5s to £3 10s; choppers, light £2 10s to £2 17s 3d; sows £4 4s.
