WEDDING BELLS

PRESTON—MORTON

A wedding of interest was celebrated at the Church of St. John the Baptist, Te Puke, recently, when Miss Mamie Elizabeth Morton, fourth daughter of Mr and Mrs A. B. Morton, of Tauranga, was married to Mr liughen Harold Preston, second son of Mr and Mrs W. Preston, of Pongakawa • Canon Rawle officiated, and Miss Smith was the organist. The bride, Avho was given away by her father looked really charming in a gown of magnolia satin cut on classical lines, with heart-shaped neck, the bodice being softly shirred and finished Avith small buttons. Her tulle veil fell over the train of her frock, and she wore a pearl necklace and carried a beautiful bouquet of cream water-lilies. The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Lorraine Morton, of Auckland, who wore an early Victorian gown of lavender stiffened net, trimmed with ribbon rows, and applique in apple shades. Her head-dress was a lavender net veil with a top-knot of orchids, and her bouquet a sheaf of delphiniums and fuchsia. Two small neices of the bride, Barbara Linden and Margaret McEldowney, were flower girls, dressed alike in Victorian frocks of deeper lavender georgette, Avith circlets of net and flo Avers in their hair, and carried posies in shades of cyclamen and ribbon to tone. Mr Grahame Porritt, of Cambridge was best man. The reception was held in the pretty garden at the home of Mr and Mrs McEldowney, Avhere Mrs Morton received her guests Avearing a black frock relieved with petrel blue, and a hat to tone, her bouquet being of shaded blue and mauve flo Avers. Mrs Preston, mother of the bridegroom, .wore a black ensemble and carried a bouquet of scarlet savccL peas. Mr 11. Parsons Avas toast-master. Mr Ken Bennett proposed the toast of the happy couple, that of the bride's parents was proposed by Mr Kenneth Morton, of Katikati, greatuncle of the bride, and the bridegroom's parents by Mr Iveam, of Welcome Bay. Mr and Mrs Preston left later for Whangarei, the bride travelling in a two-piece miit and hat of cyclamen with clover accessories.
