THE CENTENNIAL CUP THREE-YEAR-OLDS FANCIED Three-year-olds have a good record in t;he Wellington Cup and this year's field comprises several whose form has been exceptionally good, and, while they will meet with very solid, opposition from some of the older division, the younger horses will play a prominent part. After his line return to form at the Auckland summer meeting, where he defeated the brilliant Beau livre in the Great Northern Derbv and Clifford Plate, Beau Vite "will make a strong appeal'. Fils de Vaals who was third in the Derby, won the Summer Cup earlier at the meeting, displaying fine staying stamina. He is the type who improves with racing, and the fact that he is preferred by his owner to the dual Auckland Cup winner Cheval de Voice suggests possibilities. Beau Repaire, second in the Summer Clip, was successful in the Christmas Handicap, when he ran the mile in 1.H7. A determined colt, he Avill not lack support at Trentham. Gladynev is racing very solidly and Avon the Te Awamutu Cup. He *vas a very close third in the Summer Cup and won the Nathans' Memorial Handicap decisively to run a mile and a quarter with 7.11, his Wellington weight, in 2.6. The extra distance should not be to his disadvantage. Globe Trotter won the Wairarapa n mnnnpr thnt ilvpiv ntten-
Cup in a manner tnat mew auent, ion to his stamina, and Moorsotis Kvill he improved by the racing he had at Ellerslie. Top-Weight's Chances. The top-weight, Royal Chief, is a class horse and his chances, even with 9.6, cannot he denied. He finished a very close fourth in the New Zealand Cup and despite his apparent inability to go with the held in the early stages, he should be to the
fore at the finish. Catalogue, though in the veteran class, is right up to form and he demonstrated that lie retains his dash by running a very solid race in the Auckland Cup. OnCl- for the fact that he was kept on the outside of the field all the way, his rider never getting the chance to take him to the rails, he might have won.
Beaupartir displayed good form last season but should be safely held by Beau Vite. Centrepoise Avon the Metropolitan Handicap at Riccarton but his efforts lately have not inspired confidence. Malagigi has been showing up in his races in Australia and will be well supported if ridden by M. McCarten. Sly Fox, Siegmund, Old Bill and Tidewaiter appeal most of the others Beau Vite, Catalogue, Malagigi and Old Bill will probably be in most demand. Other Prospects. Horses likely to be well supported in their engagements at Wellington to-morrow are: —■ Trentham High-Weight Handicap: Raana, Golden Ridge, The Ring. Wellington Stakes: Absolve, Doria Apprentices' Plate: Wings of Sony Sercnata, Pearl of Asia. Fltzherbert Handicap: Grandora, Stencil, Radio Call. Ruapehu Handicap: Little Dorrit, Nclumbo, Buccaneer.
