There was great excitement at Whakatane West railway station yes terday morning Avhen a large party of "Boy Scouts of the Bay of Plenty entrained for their annual camp, to be held this year at Ngaio, Wcll-
ington
The boys, who avill be absent for
a fortnight, were all in excellent spirits. For many of them it will be their first trip South and this occasion is doubly interesting foil them because they will have the opportunity of seeing the Centennial Exhibition,
The party Avas under District Scoutmaster S. F. Miller, who was assisted by Scoutmaster J. M. McTavish, in charge of the scouts from Whakatane and Opotiki, Scoutmaster J. Waititi (Cape Runaway) in charge of the Maketu and Paroa party, Scoutmaster A. R. N. Briggs controlling the scouts from Tancatua and Onepu, while the cubs were in. the care of Cub Mistress B. Fagan and Nola Washer of Te Puke. Troop Leaders Ken Raymond and Henry Foreman acted as quarter-masters.
The contingent Avas increased en route, Scoutmaster A. C. Wright boarding the train at Te Puke Avith a party draAvn from Te Puke, Tauranga and Paengaroa.
Representative of all Bay of Plenty districts from Cape RunaAvay to Tail ranga, these 107 Boy Scouts arc anticipating a noA'el and interesting camp and it Avill not be for lack of willingness on their part or through any lack on the part of their olficcrs, if they fail to get all the fun to AAiiich they arc looking fonvard.
