HOLIDAY TOURNAMENTS RESULTS OF GAMES The local greens were well patronised during the holidays, and some very close and exciting games resulted. Acne-day tournament was held on New Year's Day when a number of visitors were present, the winning rink being skipped by Mr Harland of the Mt Eden Club, Auckland. Results: Sloane 5 wins; Currah 4 wins; Caisley o wins; Howat wins; Chambers 3 wins; Loane 4 wins; Baxter 5 wins; Harland a % wins; Hoi lis 3 wins. Mr McLeod (President) presented the trophies to the winning rink Messrs Hyland, Cowan, Canning and ifarland (skip). A second tournament was played on 2nd January and resulted; Chamberlain 4 1 / a wins; Caisley 3 wins; Sloane 4 wins; Loane 4 wins; Baxter 4 wins; Currah 5 wins; Cham bcrs 2. Mr McLeod presented trophies to the winners Messrs Smith, Cowan, Hellyar, Currah (skip). PEACE SHIELD CONTEST WHAKATANE VISITS GISBORNE A rink of Whakatane bowlers, Messrs J. Bell, H. Bell, A. J. Mclsaac and J. Graham visited Gisborne on Monday and Tuesday and played for the Peace Shield. Eaijoy(ing a splendid time, the local representatives won five out of the seven games played. The return was by the coast route and, commenting on the country and the roads, the bowlers expressed the opinion that the trip is well worth while for anyone who has not been round that way.
