HUNT MEMBERS MEET
I The local members of the Bay of Plenty Hunt Club held a friendly sports meeting on the Recreation Ground at Maketu. There were some excellent performances of horsemanship, Master H. Tapscll and Miss G. Tapsell, son and daugh ter of Mr Hera Tapsell, of Rotorua, both well known in hunt club cir--1 cles in Rotorua and Te Puke, carrying off most of the prizes. There was a fair attendance despite the uncertain weather. Much amusement and excitement was caused bj r the steer riding event, the highlight of the day's programme. Two huge bullocks had been lent for ihe occasion by Mr C. H. Young, of Maketu. There were twelve events on the programme and about ten or twelve entries in each event. The following were the winners: Maiden Jump (prize by S. Kelly): Peter Tapsell 1, C. TapseU 2. 10 entries. Bending (prize by L. Roberts): H. Tapsell 1, C. Tapsell 2. 9 entries Pony Jump (prize by L. Roberts): R. Tapsell 1, H. Tapseil 2. 10 entries. Stockmen's Competition (prize by P. Tapsell): Jack Tapsell 1. 4 entries. Open Jump: Hirania Tapsell 1. !0 entries. The winner is only ten years old and competed against 9 adult riders. Fkig Race (prize b.v S. Samson): T. Moko and C. Tapsell. Best Boy Rider; Hirama Tapsell. (Prize by D. Neilson). Best Girl Rider: Miss Grace Tapself. (Prize by D. Neilson). Walk, Trot and Gallop (prize by M. Whittington): J. Tapsell 1, P. Tapsell 2. 10 entries. Wire Jump (prize by P. O'Brien): Miss G. B'aek I,J. Tapsell 2. 10 en fries. Stockwhip Competition: T. Moko I, Tau Tapsell 2. 12 entries.
