PADDY'S MARKET
RED CROSS EFFORT SUCCESSFUL TANEATUA FUNCTION Members of the Taneatua Red Cross Society Avere responsible for a particularly successful Paddy's Market recently in aid of the local funds. In spite of the Avet weather the effort resulted in no less than £32 being raised. Held in the old school grounds in the main street, the stalls Avere Avell patronised and in a comparatively short time all the goods Avere cleared. The ladies concerned are to be warmly complimented on their endeavour. The sales table attendants were Mesdames N. Semmens. R. McGougan and E. Hill, Avhile afternoon tea Avas dispensed by a capable band of ladies under the leadership of Mesdames G. Bennett and E. McPeake. During the proceedings two delightful plays Avere presented by groups of local children under the leadership of Miss Joan Sisam. Winners of the competitions were Dinner, Mrs L. Penny; box of choco lates, Miss Foster; knitted jumper, Miss Alison Hill.
