GARDENING CIRCLE AT W AIM AN A (Beacon Correspondent) There was a very nice display of flowers at the monthly meeting of the W.I. gardening circle, which was held al Mrs Mnnnion's home last Wednesday afternoon. The attendance of members was good, and before the meeting commenced all met at the Church and cleared grass and Aveeds from the shrubs. Miss Stansbu-y read the minutes of the previous meeting. Mrs Mitchell gave a talk on Russell Lupins and the saving of the best seed from plants only. Mrs Wool field also gave an interesting talk on the Rose Slioay held in the Town Hall at Wellington recently. A Mower competition arranged by Mrs Ma union Avas Avon by Mrs Stevenson. The planting of trees for the Centennial year Avas discussed. The day's competitions Avere: Best Flower, Mrs Mitchell (Dahlia) 1. Mrs Stevenson (Iris) 2, Mrs Hughes (Double Larkspur) :L B;.\st Vegetable, Mrs Mitchell 1 .4 Presentation box of lloAAcrs, Mrs Woolfield 1, Mrs •Stevenson 2 and 3. The boxes of flowers Avere presented to the Nukuhou North members, who had recently resigned, Avith the season's greetings from the circle. A hearty vote of thanks Avas passed to Mrs .Terrain Avho kindly acted as judge. A dainty tea was served by the hostesses, Mrs H. WardlaAV and Miss Stansbury. Before the meeting closed Miss Stansbury announced her resignation, Mrs Mannlon being elected the neAA' secretary. Mrs Woolfield on behalf of members thanked Miss Stansbury for the most capable Avay in which she carried out her duties as secretary, and wished her ;jvcry happiness in her future home.
PRE SEN TATIONS Vv'ALMANA TENNIS AND GOLF CLUBS At the afternoon tea adjournment on the Waimana Tennis Courts recently; Mr T. W. Ward law on behalf of the Waimana Golf and Tennis Clubs, presented two popular members, Miss J. Milder and Miss G. Skudder, with gifts to mark the appreciation of their help given to the clubs during their stay in the district. The speaker AV ishcd both members every happiness and success in the future. Mis Hewitt also presented both guests with charming bouquets. Miss Skudder and Miss Miller most suitably replied, thanking all for the many kindnesses bestowed oil them during their stay in Waimana, which was appreciated very much. All joined In singing "For They Are Jolly Good Fellows."
