RECOMMENDATIONS

BOROUGH COUNCIL AFFAIRS DEPARTMENTAL ACTIVITIES At the meeting of the Borough Council last Monday evening the following recommendations from the Finance Committee were formally approved: Electricity Department: That a 200 K.V.A. transformer be purchased out of loan moneys. Worley be asked to draw up specifications covering the class of pump required for incrcased,capacity of the borough water scheme, that this be submitted to the Chairman of the Works Committee and when approved that the council call tenders alternatively for one UO,OOO gallons per hour pump and two lo,()00 gallons per hour pumps with the stipulation that should the makers be unable to quote to the specificatons that they be asked to quote for the nearest pumps to specifications Avhich they can supply. Traffic Control: That the permission of the Harbour Board be requested to the use of the reclaimed area adjacent to the Strand extension for Christmas parking purposes, that the electrical engineer be instructed to erect a temporary light at thi;» locality, and that the Borough Inspector be placed on traffic duty at this locality on the evening of December 8 and 1"), Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. Pedestrian Crossings: That the Borough Foreman be instructed to mark a pedestrian crossing from culvert to culvert at the west end of the Strand. Drainage: That the Borough Sanitary Inspector be instructed to specify in definite terms a standard of sanitary and drainage requirements for a dwelling designed to accommodate up to 8 or 10 persons. Domains: That the Council agree to mow the grass at the playing areas at the Domain at the cost of the Domain Board. That the Domain Board be advised that at the present time the council is not considering the purchase of a new mower, but that when it is considering such a matter it then will consider the board's request.
