FAREWELL TO MISS SLOANS

The teachers of the Whakatane School met in the Common on Friday afternoon after scjGol was finished to say farewell to Miss Sloane who is leaving Whakatane" to be married. A bouquet of phlox, larkspurs and maiden hair fern was presented to her and also a silver cake basket. Mr Southey spoke of Miss Sloane's good work in the schooi and said how her work had been appreciated! by all and that she would be much missed. Miss Whiteside also spoke in eulogistic terms of the work Miss Sloane had carried out. Afternoon tea served later.
