CURTAIN RAISER TO ELLERSLIE < Racing will commence with the Park Hurdles, one mile and a half. The majority of the performers have , been seen out in public this season, and preference may be indicated for the chances of Devon General Ruse , Glen Abb With a field of 15 the Kihikihi Handicap should be veiy keenly fought out. Cornish is reported to have improved since winning at Te Rapa, while Serenata, Town Section and Te Takina have been galloping well on the tracks. The favourite division may include Te Takina Cornish Town Section With an alcceptance of 33 the Waipa Plate, of six ftirlongs and a half, will probably be run in two divisions. Class is not at all well rer presented in this event, and many of those entered have not previously carried silk this season. Glen Council, Merry Vaals, Nyola, Manervo, Flying Vixen and Phil Vaals have been showing satisfactory track work. In the first division the likely fancies may be Manervo Phil Vaals Merry Vaals In the second division among the best backed may be Glen Connell Kilcash Flying Vixen Then will come up for decision the mile and a quarter Te Awamutu Cup. Golden Sheila 9.12 may have her work cut out to stall off the finishing runs of Sly Fox, Llangollen Flood Tide and Dictate, while The Cardinal will be expected to keep the opposition very busy, if he is in the mood on the day. The running of Cheval de Voice will be carefully watched for if he fails to run prominently his chance in the Auckland Cup will not be highly assessed. There is likely to be spirited support for the chances of Sly Fox Golden Sheila Llangollen Quality is nicely represented in the Hack Cup, of nine furlongs. A well fancied trio may be Ureklaw Foxtoon Greek Queen The Ohaupo Hack will bring out a big field, but the 26 listed will lie reduced by the fact of several of the entrants having competed in the Kihikihi Handicap earlier in the afternoon. Among those highly assessed may be Wild Ore Ora King Valdene The open sprint event of the meeting the Flying Handicap, will command the very keen attention of racing patrons, one and all —for in the list are some of the most capable speedsters in the Auckland province., which are also engaged in Boxing Day's Railway Handicap at Ellerslie. The luck at the barrier and in the running will be important factors in this event but high in the estimation of backers are likely to be Orwere Suleiman Foxmond The meeting will conclude witithe Paterangi Handicap", of seveu furlongs. The final figures on th* totalisator may point to the poss* ; bil 1 ties of Besiege Full Hand Birthday Boy *
