TWO TRAFFIC CONVICTIONS

One of the shortest sittings for several months, was experienced at tlic monthly Magistrate's Court at Te Pake on Thursday, before Mr A. Coleman, S.M,, the court rising 15 minutes after the commencement

It was stated in evidence that Moko had been notified tAvice that he must reneAA r his license, and his set had been inspected and found to be in perfect Avorking order. The defendant, who Avas present in court, pleaded guilty to the charge.

Two breaches of traffic regulations were brought by Tauranga County Traffic Inspector, R. Gardener, obtaining convictions in both cases. Messrs Goodson Ltd., of Rotorua, were prosecuted for operating a truck in the Tauranga County without a covering license. Inspector Gardener stated that the truck was unloading timber for the Public Works Department at Pongakawa in the Tauranga County. The company held licenses lor operating in the Rotorua, Whakatane and Taupo counties. The defendants were convicted and fined £2 and costs 10s.

Keith Llewellyn Richards was charged with driving a heavy motor truck at a speed exceeding the 25 m.p.h. limit imposed on such vehicles. The traffic inspector stated that lie had followed the defendant, who did not appear in court, for a distance of I*4 miles, and registered the speed at 40 m.p.h. His lorry, it was stated, was loaded with empty petrol drums. Richards was convicted and fined £2 10s, and costs, 10s.
