REGENT
Friday and Saturday with matinee both days. "Way Down South" Bobby Breen, Ralph Morgan, Alan Mowbray, Sally Blane, Steffie Duna. Clarence Muse. Bobby Breen's golden voice is to be heard once again in his seventh and best picture, "Way Down South." Important mem. bers of the cast are the Hall Johnson Choir, brilliant group of coloured singers. The story is a straight forward one, but is most convincingly played, and provides numerous opportunities for the singing of old favourite darkie songs, together with two new ones, "Louisiana" and "Good Ground." As a soprano, Bobby Breen excels himself,,, while his acting is of such quality as will ensure him keeping a place in the film world should he lose his voice. Also screening March of Time and Walt Disney's latest cartoon "Practical Pig." GRAND
Final screening to-night of ''Pardon Our Xerve" a smart up to the minute comedy, and "Blondie" adapt ed from the famous and popular news strip cartoon. Commencing Saturday Ep 4 serial "Scouts to the Rescue." "Homicide Bureau" Bruce Cabot, Rita Hay worth, Marc Lawrence, Richard Fiske, Gene Morgan. Where do foreign War Lords get their guns? Here is the answer ripped from a nation's front pages as G-Men mow down the huge munitions' mob ... Killers who slay their petty rivals so that warring Governments may slay millions are dramatically exposed. Yesterday's used cars become to-morrow's bullets as gunmen violate all law and decency to smuggle the lethal metal aboard. "Something to Sing About" James Cagney, Evelyn Da\v„ Mona Barrie, Wm. Frawlej r , Gene Lockhart, Philip Ahn. Cagney deserts his gangster roles and appears in a sparkling musical comedy in which he dances, sings and fights. Few casts, even in the most pretentious Hollywood production., can be said to be more perfectly balanced.
