MR M. K. JOSEPH'S CAREER

FORMER TE PUKE BOY

Formerly a lecturer in English at the Auckland University Colege, Mr Michael Kennedy Joseph, now at Merton College, Oxford,, has graduated B.Litt., according to advice received by his parents, Mr and Mrs G. F. Joseph, of Herne Bay, Auckland. A brilliant languages student before his appointment to a lectureship, Mr Joseph graduated M.A. with first-class honours about five yeaj-s ago. He left for England to continue his studies in 1936, and in 1938 passed final examinations for the B.A. (Oxon) with honours.

Prior to entering Sacred Heart College, Mr Joseph was a pupil of the Te Puke District High School for about four years. He was a nephew of Miss Kennedy, mistress of the Secondary Departament of the school at this time.

Mr Joseph left Sacred Heart College after winning first place in the Dominion in the Junior University Scholarship and entered the Auckland University.
