VISIT TO ELECTORATE
MR T. THORN, M.P. TOUR OF BAY OF PLENTY Mr A. G. Hultquist, M.P., has arranged for Mr J. Thorn M.P. to visit the Bay of Plenty Electorate, and he will deliver addresses to mem bers of the Labour Party and Trade Unionists at Opotiki and Kaiteratahi on tlie Ist and 2nd of December. Mr Thorn is one of the Government's best known members, having been for several years President and Secretary of the National Executive. He was, in fact, National Secretary of the Party when Mr Hultquist selected to contest the Bay of Plenty scat in 1934. Mr Thorn is also well known for the fact that he was the Government's representative at Geneva in 1937 and on his return to New Zealand was made the Chairman of the Fisheries Investigation Commission. Mr Thorn will arrive in Whakatane on Friday next the Ist December and travel to Opotiki with Mr and Mrs Hultquist to address a meeting that evening in the Labour rooms. A social will follow. On the Saturday Mr Thorn will accompany Mr Hultquist through the Waioeka Gorge to Matawai and Gisborne. At Kaiteratahi Hall that evening another address will be given bv the visiting member and he will be the guest of the Party afterwards at a social and dance. Mr Thorn will return with Mr and Mrs Hultquist to Whakatane late on Sunday evening the 3rd December and lie will' be their guest that night. He will leave for his home in Thames on the Monday.
