CENTENNIAL PARK

OPENING ON FEBRUARY 28th !

MINISTER INVITED

On the suggestion of Mr D. V. Saunders, Town Clerk, the date for the opening of the Whakatane Centennial Park was scheduled, at a meeting of the Borough Council held last Monday evening, for February the 28th next. It was suggested also that the Hon W. E. Parry, Minister of Internal Affairs, and Mr A. G. Hultquist M.P., member for the district, should be invited to attend. His Worship the Mayor explained that the leading figures in Local Body and other organisations would be present but it. was to be preferred that the invitation to the Hon. W. E. Parry and Mr Hultquist should come from the Borough Council. Cr C. A. Armstrong proposed that as an invitation w r as to be extended to these two, Mr F. W. Doidge, M.P. should also be invited. This proposal was incorporated in the original motion, which was moved by the Mayor and seconded by Cr Shapley.
