INTOXICATED MOTORIST CHARGE AT OPOTIKI At the Opotiki Police Court on Wednesday morning before Mesrs J. D. Clark and C. Pipe, J.P's, Atawhai Hauraki, a married man, farming at Waiawa, was charged with being in a state of intoxication while in charge of a car, on November 14. Accused pleaded guilty. Sergeant J. Tsbister, who prosecuted, said that accused was seen by Constable Cooper leaving an hotel at p.m. Accused got into his car preparing to drive away. He admitted going to the hotel at 2 o'clock and leaving at (5.15 p.m. During that time he said he had 8 or 9 beers. A medical certificate was furnished . The bench took a serious view of the offence, stating tlint the practice of imprisonment was being adopted in many centres. A line of £3 0 was imposed and accused's license was cancelled for IS months.
