WHAKATANE SUCCESSFUL P. AND T. AND PAROA DRAW The evenness of the strength of teams in the loeai competition was again demonstrated on Saturday, when Whakatane beat Central by 13 runs on the first innings, and P. and T. and Paroa drew in a high scoring game. The standard of cricket was high and there was n noticeablc improvement in the batting and bowling' of all teams. Fielding, however. still needs "brushing up." A painful accident befell E. Grant,, a Paroa player, Avho received a nasty cut on the mouth Avhich necessitated several stitches. The accident occurred prior to the commencement of the game, when the ball was being thrown about. Howat was the only Paroa bowler to make an impression, his five wickets being well-deserved. Paroa also proved a strong baiting side in this match, losing only 3 wickets for 111 runs before time was called, including one retirement.
