FIRE BREAKS OUT AGAIN
MONDAY'S THREAT AT OHOPE DANGER PAST The bush fire which caused some alarm to residents at Ohope Beach on Sunday, and which was still smouldering as we went to press oh Monday, broke out again shortly before noon that da} r . The dried grass and leaves on the cliff face allowed the fire to work its way down towards the bench.
Residents gathered and proceeded to check the flames with wet sacks and switches of manuka but it was not until a fire-break had been cut along one of the ridges, that the danger was past. Although tlu> growth is .smoking in places it is improbable that the ; flames .will work up again.
