SCOUT RALLY

EVENT AT TAURANGA

LOCAL TROOPS TO TAKE PART

Various displays of games and Scout activities will be witnessed at Tauranga on Saturday, November Htli, when the eighth annual rally of the Bay of Plenty Boy Scouts will take place.

Troops from this area, who will leave by train in the morning and return in the evening, consist of the Whakatane Troop under Scoutmaster J. M. MacTavish, Paroa (Mr S. F. Miller), Poroporo (Mr A. Boswell), Onepu (Mr T. J. Watson) and Taneatua.

There is a wide range of events seheduled for the rally with hakas, knot-tying competitions, signalling, and sports events included while the cubs are not forgotten, a Grand Howl and Jungle Games being arranged. Tea will be provided for the boys and they are requested to take a cup' with them. They are also asked to be certain that they have their staves with them.

The rally will be in the care of Mr P. W. Grinder while Commissioner Southon, District Commissioner F. N. Christian, and District Scoutmaster S. F. Miller also will be in attendance.

It is anticipated that this will be a record rally and a special invitation is.extended to all parents and friends to support it. Arrangements have been made to hold the rally in the Tauranga Hall should the weather not hold but all' indications are that the function will be favoured with summer conditions and should be a great success. THE ONEPU TROOP During the last few weeks the following scouts of the Onepu Troop have qualified for their various badges (proficiency): Ambulance: Keith Storer, Bernard Knight. Horsemanship: Scouts John Craddock, Vernon O'Brien, William Lord Bernard Knight. Farmers: Sconts Flin Waldegrave, Keith Storer, Alec Nell, Dick Thomp son.
