BAZAAR DOES WELL

METHODIST FUNCTION SUCCESSFUL SCENE IN KING STREET HALL The busy scene at the tastefullyy decorated King Street Hall yesterday and the rate at which the dainty articles and good things on the stalls vanished, showed just how successful the Methodist Church's annual bazaar had proved to be. Ail stalls reported excellent business, and quite early in the afternoon a J number were almost sold out.

It Avas a Avurm afternoon, and the children made a bee-line for the

sweets and ice cream as soon as they were released from school. Housewives, too, took the opportunity to purchase high-quality preserves and vegetables and fancy articles. The standard of these last goods Avas exceptionally high, and many, the Avork of school children, Ivere most tasteful in design and execution. During the afternoon the Mayor, Mr B. S. Barry, paid a visit to the function and Avas entertained at afternoon tea, though there Avas no formal opening of the bazaar.

The ladies who conducted the stalls so efficiently /were: —

Sweet stall: Mrs A. J, Canning, Mrs F. Darvill. Cake stall: Mrs L. Brown, Mrs L. Berg, Mrs Wallwork. Produce stall: Mrs Stewart, Miss Ramson, Mrs A. F. Haultain. Busy bees: Mrs T. J. Hcllyar, Mrs W. R. Hanhani. Apron stall: Mrs Comer. Mrs R. H. Woolliams. Fancywork stall: Mrs S. G. Print, Mrs A. Albiston, Mrs N. Larsen. Novelty stall: Mrs Litclnvark. Icecream stall: Mrs Teasdale, Mrs J. T. Whitq, Mrs Miller. xVfternoon tea: Mrs Lang, Miss Wallwork, Miss Print, Mrs Lucas, Miss Melville.

Festoons of greenery were carried along the tops of the stalls and entwined with coloured paper and the stage, where the afternoon tea was served, was banked with more green cry. These effective decorations were the work of Messrs Albertson, Litclnvark, Brown, Teasdale, Hellyar Woolliams and Young, and young men from the Bible Class.

In the evening an excellent con cert was held.
