RECRUITING

ENLISTMENTS IN WHAKATANE

FIFTY-SEVEN MEN PASSED Eights r -four recruits for the special military force have now been examined by the Whakatane medical board. Fifty-seven of these men were passed £:s fit, eighteen temporarily unfit, and nine permanently unfit, most of those classed as temporarily unfit being so by reason of teeth deficiencies. Men can still hand their names in for enlistment, and they will be examined when a second echelon of the force is raised.

Maori enlistments for the rifle battalion are also being taken, and a medical board will probably be arranged shortly.
