THE WESTERN FRONT
BRITISH TROOPS FIRMLY ENTRENCHED PORTION OF MAGINOT LINE The special war correspondent with the British troops on the Western Front, reports that they are now firmly installed in their own sector of the Maginot Line, and are also holding strategic positions covering the rear, which makes it possible 10 bring the advancing enemy under a terrific cross lire. British guns have arrived in thousands ruid are to oe seen everywhere. During a tour of inspection, the observer, did not see one horse in use, or one infantryman on foot. It is significant also that the right wing is being held by a Scottish regiment. French peasants in the immediate rear continue their farm operations, and some are optimistically sowing their crops for next season. Polish units from the French legion have also taken their position in the line. The enemy artillery still continues active, but the actual fighting is still confined to patrol skirmishes.
