THE MONTH'S WORK
CONSTRUCTION OF LINES Mr J. D. Dicker, engineer-manager for the Bay of Plenty PoAver Board, in his monthly report submitted at the board's meeting at Opotiki on Tuesday, said that during the month 1.71 miles of 11,000 volt lines, 98.22 route chains of 400 volt on 11,000 volt lines, and 19 chains of 400 volt lines hacl been erected. Two ten K.V.A. transformers had been erected. Twenty-five new service lines "were completed, or a total length of 145.69 route chains, and four lines dismantled.
Under the recent Electricity Emergency Regulations all future extensions must be submitted to the electricity controller, and his sanction must aliso be obtained for service lines in excess of ten chains. As called for by the regulations a complete stock schedule had been compiled covering materials, motors, etc., a similar schedule being required each month. Last month four interruptions occurred on sections of the reticulation, the most serious being caused by the breaking of an 11,000 volt conductor on the Thornton end of the Rangitaiki feeder, which resulted in the' branch being out for two and a half hours. I
There was one pre-arranged shut down of an hour and three-quarters to enable the department to connect the Ngongotaha-Edgecumbe section of the new line.
