PAYMENT FOR SEARCH An echo of the search for the lost kctch Titi was heard when the Whakatane Harbour Board approved the chairman's action in charging Mr J. F. Morice only the actual out-of pocket expenses incurred by the use of the pilot launch in the searcfy round White Inland. These amounted to £14. The harbourmaster reported that he searched for 50 miles N.N.W. and 40 miles N.E. from White Island, the total steaming time being 2(5 hours. The usual charge would have been said the chairman, Mr J. W.. Sumner, but he had considered that, in view of the circumstances, the charge should be reduced, This action met general approval.
