RETURNING FROM OHOPE

NO SERIOUS INJURY

The five people on beard were 'lucky to escape serious injury when a motor car driven by Mr R. Hansen Whakatane, skidded off the road and rolled over to come to rest against a fence on the Ohope Road on Tuesday niglit,. Apart from bruises and minor abrasions no one was hurt. •The right hand side cf the car was pushed in at the centre pillar, and •the radiator was knocked back. There was other minor damage to the body, but as far as is known, the and; engine were not affected The accidcnt occurred at 10.30 ■a. m, when the party of three young men and two young women were returning from the beach after having taken a. young woman, a visitor to -the district, home. The car was descending the hill above the turnoff to the old Ohope Road and when on the last sharp corner it apparently skidded' when the driver tried to pull round. It left the hit a clump of rushes, bounced over and •came to rest on its wheels, tail into -a fence with the bumper wrapped round a post. The car was brought into Whalta'tane next day by Wheeler's breakdown truck.
