AWAKERI KITCHEN EVENING

VILLIS—WOODBERRY MARRIAGE

A kitchen evening was held in thj Giakiri Hall on Monday evening, the guests of honour being Mr Fred Vil j lis and his bride-to-be Miss (Florence Woodherry. The popularity of the voung couple and the esteem in which their respective families are held was demonstrated by an attendance of well over a hundred fKcnds from all parts of the Bay. The timehonoured -custom of furnishing the kitchen resulted in a beautiful array of kitchenwarc.

Mr James Ferguson, in making n brief speech on behalf of the assembled company, pointed out that the parents of Miss Woodberry had lived in the district for over 20 years and

the Villis' family ifbr almost the same period, during which time they had done more than their share of social work in the district. He spoke in glowing terms of the young couple and presented them with the many tokens of goodwill and friendship. Mr Fred Villis replied and in inviting his many friends to his home of the near future appropriately enough requested that they would please not all visit them at the same time.

Dancing took up the major part of the evening the music being supplied by the Five Gaiety Boys, who paid a graceful tribute to Mr Villis by playing free of in honour of their long association with the Villis family.
