ILLEGAL PETROL STORAGE
PENALTY OF CONVICTION
FORFEITURE OF SUPPLY
On a conviction being recorded for illegal storage of petrol, all stocks and their containers in the possession of the person convicted arcf automatically forfeited, according to a statement made by the Oil Fuel Controller, Mr G. L. Laurcnson, in a statement drawing attention to the emergency regulations which pro hibit the storage oli more than eight gallons of petrol unless a license is obtained from the local authority.
Last week several Wairoa residents were prosecuted and charged with* keeping more than 8 gallons of motor spirit on premises not licensed for that purpose. Each defendant was convicted an!d ordered to pay costs. In cases brought before the Court in Chr.istchurch fines were inflicted. In one case a defendant had stored over a thousand gallons of motor spirit.
