THE OHINEMURI MEETING
On Saturday and Monday next all roads will lead to the once "dry" town, Paeroa, where the Ohinemuri Jockey Club will have the pleasure of staging its spring fixture. The racing track is reported to be in excellent therefore the racing should on the whole be in accordance! therewith. Splendid acceptances have been listed, and a very successful meeting is assured. Saturday's programme will open with the Maiden Handicap, of six furlongs and with 35 acceptances two divisions Avill be necessitated as the safety number ifbr the course is 26. Even with two divisions there will be the usual bracketing of some of the horses. In the first scamper those likely to be fancied may include LITTLE IDEA FOXSE.X WHENUA For the second division the favourites may be TELLSOM FIRST GOLD MONEY ROYAL FAWKES The Kopuarahi Hurdles has filled well, but class is not strongly represented. A big percentage of the sixteen acceptors are maiden hurdlers, or practically unknown quantities over the battens. Likely fancies I'Rom the investor's point may include BISQUIT GADGER BRITISH SOVEREIGN With sixteen open class horses in the Ngatea Handicap.a stirring contest should ensue. Included in the list are last season winners in Balinavar, Scotland, Te Hai. Brazilian, Brazen Bold, Mon Acre, Eastern Heir and Requiem. The first mentioned four may not he right at their best in respect to racing condition. The investing public may sum "p for BRAZEN BOLD MARIE'S ACRE BESIEGE The Pipiroa Hack Cup lo be run over nine furlongs, should be a strongly fought out contest, although there are no candidates of outstanding merit engaged. A well fancied trio likely to be supported ( are RACELINE FOXTOON KASPIAN Tlien to come up for decision is the Poland Cup of eleven furlongs, for stakes totalling £400. Round Up, 10.3, as expected had his ment declined, thus leaving King Rev 9.5 at the head of the list \vith Valmint 8.9 and Gold Vaals 8. fi next in order. On rcccnt form, a third and a second at Avondale King Key will have plenty of adherents, as also will Gold Var-ils, who is likely to run well on his home track. Pirate King 8.4 may not be quite ready as it will be his first race of the season, but Prince Acre, Young Paddon Te Monowai and Maxam, have been racing lately, and should be ready for the fray. There is likely to be spirited support for TE MONOWAI PTRATE KING ROYAL BACHELOR Saturday's racing will conclude with the Kercpeehi Hack; which may be competed for bv fifteen candidates.
