SPRING CATTLE FAIR

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd. reports a good yarding of cattle at their annual Spring Cattle Fair at Whakatane. A full bench of buyers was present from the Waikato. Considering the shortage of feed, the majority of the cattle were in good order. Gtfown cattle avcre in good demand, but yearling steers and heifers were not wanted. A .sinail var,ding of fat cows and steers sold up to late rates. 4-year Hereford steers up to £9 12s, 3-year IT. and P.A. steers £8 to £8 16s, 2 year. IT. and P. A. steers £0 to £7 10s, 2 year Shorthorn steers £7 Bs, yearling P.A. steers £3 10s to £4 10s smaller £2 to £3 ss, heavy fat bullocks to £10 5s heavy prime cows and heifers £8' 5s to £9 12s, medium fat cows £0 to Ss ) light killablc cows £5 to £5 15s. A good clearancc was effected.
