RECREATION WEEK
THE CAMPAIGN CONTINUES Expressing the opinion, that the outbreak of Avar had -widened the field of helpfulness for the organisation of physical welfare and recreation work, the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon W. E. Parry. stated recently that there would be no cessation of activities for national recreation week, to be held between September 29th and October /th. A mistaken impression, he >aid. existed in some quarters that members of district committees appointed under the Physical Welfare and Recreation Act might be disti acted by the war and lose interest in Recreation Week. He was pleased to read in, reports received from a, number of localities that there were manv men and women who showed great keenness in doing Iheir best for a movement which must he beneficial to people of al] ages. "The idea to keep fit and well, especially at this time," Mr Parry stated, "is in line with one of our most important activities. An important aspect of recreation "week fs m demonstrations of suitable forms of exercise and* recreation, outdoors and indoors, of which the organisation would greatly hrlp in imparting know ledge. In the same way the exhibitions of hobbies will be helpful. "Even a little thought by any rearsoiling New Zealnnder.," added the Minister, "will surely convince him that tlie decision to go on with re-v creation week : s in all ways in tne interests of the country."
