MILITARY DINNER

HAURAKI TERRITORIALS MEET The services of the m?n who gave their time to territorial training in the district in the period of apathy preceding the war, were marked at a dinner held in the Commercial Hotel, Whakatane,, last Saturday for officers and N.C.O'.'s of the Whakatane Company of the >Fiist Hauraki Regiment. The dinner, over which Major C. A. Le Licvre, second in command of the Hauraki Regiment presided, proved most enjoyable. Lieutenant J. Conolly gave the toast, of the King, and the toast of the Regiment came from Corporal M. Carter, Auckland East Coast Mounted Rifles, Major Le Lievre replying. Major R. H. Hauesler gave the toast of other regiments, and Corporal Carter replied to this. Sergeant Arm strong toasted the Ladies and Corporal Stark responded on their behalf. The dinner came at the conclusion of an afternoon's battle formation 'practice in the vic'nity of Ohiwa, ati which much valuable work was done.
