BAY CRICKET
ANNUAL MEETING HELD The annua] meeting of the Bay of Plenty Cricket Association was hold in Matata at the -weekend Mr H. L Mus grove (president) being in the chair. Also present: Messrs Beale, Bavley ; Buckley and Mus grove (Rotorua), Howat and Cleland (Whakatane), A. W. Beale and J. Pattie (Pongakawa Association). Apologies from Tauranga and Opotiki Associations for unavoidable absence -were received. Tile president's report for the year, and the balancc sheet, showing a creditable balance on the year's working were adopted. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The following officers for the ensuing year were elcctecl:— Patron: Mr J. Attrill (Snr), Te Puke; president: Mr Mus grove (Rotorua); vice-presidents: The secretary of each Sub-Assoeia.tion: secretary & treasurer: Mr C.J Beale (Rotoru'a) committee: Messrs Spring and Cleland (Whakatane). Buckley and Bavley (Rotorua), Wickhani and Craig (Pon gakawa), Opotiki and Tauranga Associations to select their own member,s; sole selector: Mr Bavley (Roto--rua). Each Sub-Association to have own selector, who will with Mr Bavley: advisory selection, committee: Messrs L. R. Spring (Rangitaiki), E. Wells (Opotiki), N. Bavley (Rotorua), Dr Rondel (Pongakawa), J. ,Fisher (Tauranga) Correspondence dealt with included a letter from Whakatane regarding the formation of a new association and seeking the Bay's assistanceThis was passed over. New Zealand Cricket Council's attitude in not returning a bonus from the £16 sent by the Bay association as proceeds from the unofficial match' against Sir Julian Calm's teamIt was reported that the Bay had forwarded a challenge for the Hawke Cup, and the secretary was instructed to write to South Auckland for a match. A discussion took place regarding junior representative matches between associations, and Mr 11. Burkbv, supporting this, asked that no trophy should be played for as this only encouraged "pot hunting.''' Tlie question of selecting the cantain for Bay teams was left to the executive comnrttee.
