WAIMANA NOTES

SOCIAL AND DANCE (Beacon Correspondent) The annual husbands and friends evening Avas held in the Waimana Hall recently by the Waimana-Nuku-hou Women's Institute. The function took the fofm of a social and dancc the music being played by Mr and Mrs King, Miss M. Wardlaw and Miss J- McConncll kindly obliged Avith extras. Mr H. Wardlaw carried out the duties of M. C. A sketch entitled "Much ado About Nothing'' Avas avcll acted by Mrs Mitchell and Mrs Addison, and a play "Engaging a Maid" Avas much enjoyed. Actors were members of the Drama Circle. A cleA r er exhibition of tlie Irish Jig and Waltz Tap was giA'en by Miss N. Mitchell, Miss J. Hodgson and Miss A. White. The grandma members of the Institute rendered choruses most .sweetly, wearing long frocks, shawls and bonnets, and later appeared in modern costumes and sang and danced the "Lambeth Walk." This item was much en-joyed. The members of the Glee Club pre scnted "Ten Pretty in costume, and an encore Avas called for. A dainty supper Avas served bv the members of the Institute, and at 1 tlie conclusion of the evening Mr E. P. WooHield on behalf of; all present thanked the Institute for the pleasant eA-ening. The eA T ening opened and closed with the singing of the National Anthem . Among those present were: Mesdamcs Wooli'ield, H. Wardlaw, M. King, J. Wardlaw, J. Mitchell, Burnett, Hodgson, Flint, F. Black, Edwards (Napier), T. Wardlaw, Madson (Kuterere), Spanhake, C. White.
