WHAKATANE SUB-dfcNTRE • j INITIAL 3 : £T>;sr >--* The first meeting-of -the' Executive Committee held in the Lyceum Club Rooms on Tuesday was attended by the president, Mr B. S. Barry, Dr Dawson, Mesdamcs L. B. L. W. Luxton,- B. S. Barry, S. S. Shapley, W. Sullivan, C. G. Caisley, W, E. Bridger E. Armstrong, F. J. Appleby and W. E. Pearse. Apologies were received from Mesdamcs McCracken, Rangi and Cole. Mrs W. Sullivan was elccted to the chair, and Mi's W. R. Sloane was clected to the executive committee. Arrangements for the starting of the instructional classes are well in Land and it is hoped to commence these at an early date. The date of the first meeting will be advertised! through these columns. An eai'ly meeting of the general committee ay ill also be called- for the purpose of forming sub-committees, seAA'ing circles etc.. and also a men's V.A.D. Organisation. Mr F. Mahy Senr./iias offered the King Street Hall free of charge for meetings and lectures, and also for any entertainments- the proceeds of which Avould be gi\ T en to the Red Cross Society. His generous offer has been gladly accepted by the committee. The thanks of the committee are also due to Mrs Cattanach for the offer of the use of her hosiery machines for knitting socks. A vote of thanks to the Lyceum Club for the use of its rooms closed the meeting.
