SEALING IN BOROUGH
P.W.D. FIXES PRICE A letter from Mr R. H. Ronaynef district Public Works engineer, was read at Monday night's meeting of tho Whakatane Borough Council asking the council to keep the cost of resealing the Whakatane-Wharf main highway to 10d a square yatd, as the department now had appliances and an organised crew to undertake work of this kind on highways near Whakatane, and naturally objected to paying for work that it could undertake cheaper than a local authority or even a contractor. He advised the council to order the necessary M.C.3 now. The borough foreman thought he could do it for lOd a yard said the Mayor, Mr B. S. Barry.
