CHICKS' LONG JOURNEY A consignment of day-old chicks consisting of 35 White Leghorn pullets 5 White Leghorn cockerels, 7 Australorp pullets and 3 Australorp cockerels, dispatched from Wallsend, New South Wales, on June 2S<, were delivered at Sourabaya > Java, Dutch East Indies, on the afternoon of July 1, the recipient reporting that all arrived in splendid condition. The total distance travelled was 38G0 miles (3710 miles by plane and 151* miles by rail), ancf* the time taken included overnight stays in, Sydney, Townsville and Darwin.
