CR. BRABANT

WELCOMED TO COUNCIL Cr H. W. Brabant, who was upturned unopposed to fill the vacancy created by the death of Cr J, Arre.s ? was welcomed to the council board at Monday night's meeting of the Whakatane Borough Council by the Mr B. S. Barry. Later the Mayor moved that Cr Brabant be appointed to the finance committee. Cr W. Sullivan, seconding this, said that Cr Brabant would lend a good deal-of weight to the committee. However, he hoped that Cr Brabant would be more generous to the works committee than some coun, cillors. (Laughter) . Cr Brabant expressed his thanks. He had served on the works committee in previous years and he was pleased to be back on the council and on the finance commiltec.
