NAVAL RATINGS
CABARET CASI? RECALLED WELLINGTON COUNCIL'S VIEW The refusal of a Wellington cabaret proprietor to admit a naval rating to his cabaret was recalled at the meeting of the Wellington City Council. Cr P. M. Butler said that in view of the appeal now being made to* the men of New Zealand to join theforccs? lie would like to know what the position would be if the same proprietor refused admission to men J wearing the King's uniform. ' "I remember the incident and I remember the cabaret/' said the Mayor. "The proprietor refused permission for naval ratings to enter. The council macle a strong objection at the time. I don't know what he has done since, but I have the ad-< vice of the city solicitor that the proprietor is not entitled to refuse admission. If it happens again, I venture to suggest that we shall cancel the license."
