MORE POTATOES
SOWINGS OF WHEAT "It is desirable that we should grow more potatoes, and there is still time for an increased area of land to be prepared for this crop," said the Minister of Industries an,d Commerce, Mr Sullivan, in the House of Representatives, replying to an urgent question by Mr T. D. Burnett (National Temuka). "Potato growers will be rendering a national service by planting a larger area, and I trust that they will find it possible to raise a large crop this year," he added. The Minister said it was estimated ; that 250,000 acres had been prepar- | ed for sowing in •wheat, and he was sure farmers would make every effort to increase the area by spring sow. ,hg "
