Under the supervision of Mr L. H. Collison, president of the Manawata Racing Club, and the caretaker. Mr W. G. Stevens, more than 1(10 trees have been planted o n a special area at the Awapuni racecourse, set under an arrangement with the acclimatisation society for the planting of trees to provide iood for birds,. The trees, gums and natives, were planted by 20 boys from the training school at Awapuni* who were assisted by Messrs L. G. Ivlor.. ris, B. H. Morris and A. McDonald, the well-ltnown jockeys.
